WBP Constable Exam Pattern 2026

The West Bengal Police Constable Written Examination 2026 is conducted for a total of 85 marks and consists of objective-type (MCQ) questions. The detailed exam pattern, including subject-wise distribution of questions and marks, is provided below.

A total of 85 objective-type questions will be asked.
The question paper will be set in Bengali and Nepali languages.
1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
¼ mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (negative marking).
The total duration of the examination is 60 minutes (1 hour).

West Bengal Police Constable ELIGIBILITY

Educational Qualification

Candidate must have passed Madhyamik (Class 10) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.

Age Limit

Minimum Age: 18 Years
Maximum Age: 27 Years
Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-Servicemen and other reserved categories as per government rules.

Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 Years
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 Years

Nationality & Language

Must be a citizen of India
Must be able to read, write, and speak Bengali
Knowledge of Bengali is not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali

Physical Standards – Male Candidates

Height: 167 cm (160 cm for Gorkha candidates)
Chest:
- Unexpanded: 79 cm
- Expanded: 84 cm (minimum 5 cm expansion)

Physical Standards – Female Candidates

Height: 160 cm (155 cm for Gorkha candidates)
Chest: Not applicable

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Running
- Male: 1600 meters in 6 minutes 30 seconds
- Female: 800 meters in 4 minutes
Long Jump
- Male: 3.80 meters (3 chances)
- Female: 2.50 meters (3 chances)

Medical Fitness

Candidates must be physically and medically fit as per the standards prescribed by the recruitment board. Final medical examination is mandatory before appointment.
